API Q1 & Monogram

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the natural gas and oil industry, which supports 10.3 million U.S. jobs and nearly 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 600 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 47 million Americans. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organization. In its first 100 years, API has developed more than 700 standards to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability.

API Spec Q1

API Spec Q1 is a quality management standard for product manufacturers and is specifically geared toward the nuances of the oil and gas industry. API Spec Q1 meets all of the ISO 9001 requirements, plus additional elements deemed valuable by the oil and natural gas industry.

Registered API Spec Q1 companies demonstrate to their customers that they have the ability to consistently provide reliable products and manufacturing-related processes that meet customer and legal requirements.

Monogram

API Monogram is a voluntary licensing program that facilitates the consistent manufacturing of product that conforms to applicable API Specifications. Licensed manufacturers are given the authority to apply the API Monogram registered mark to equipment that meets the requirements.

Plus, the licensee demonstrates that they have a quality management system that is compliant with API Spec Q1 – an industry-leading quality management standard. API Spec Q1 meets all of the ISO 9001 requirements, in addition to requirements that are geared specifically for the oil and natural gas industry.
